Snow Day!

The Senior Center was closed today due to the weather so Daddy got a snow day. The kids were thrilled that we all were able to go outside and play in the snow. Unfortunately, we only had the camera phone to take pictures. They actually turned out pretty good though.

Mommy and Ruben were playing baseball with snowballs.

Marissa loves to eat snow. She took off her glove so as to be able to grab more snow. Hhhmmm, hhhhmmm, hhhmm. What a satisfied snow eating baby.

We went out to dinner...WITHOUT THE KIDS!

I forgot what it was like to sit down and eat without having to feed someone else or pick up food and silverware off of the floor. Sat. night Jose and I went out for a late Valentine's Date. A friend watched the kids and we went to O'Charleys. It was wonderful, great food and great company ;)
It was so nice to have a date with my husband. We talked a lot and did a lot of laughing, he still cracks me up. We went to the mall after dinner and walked around. We could not help ourselves though, we went in a couple of stores looking for things for the kids.

Destroying everything in her path!

Little Miss Sassy Pants broke my camera. Is there nothing the kid will not destroy??? She recently ripped off part of the cover on the computer. She has also ripped the blinds apart in her room. She walks around the house just looking to see what she can destroy next. You can see it all over her face. Unfortunately now I don't have a camera to document her destructive behavior.

Oh, and about Mr. Jose's post below, everyone knows I would never nag him about doing anything. Wives do not do such things ;)

They are done!

I have finally completed our tax forms. Well, I had actually completed our federal tax return about two weeks ago, I simply need to do our state tax return. Somehow it seems like the state tax return is more complex. Maybe it is just me.

My next task is to send out our rebate form for the new cellphone we bought. That form is months and months late. I hope we can still get our $50 back. Kiesha is getting on me about sending that out. Maybe that is what I will do as soon as I get off of here.

Oh yeah, Kiesha has been getting on me about posting on our blog since it has been years since I have posted. I'm a slacker, but at least I got our taxes done. Wooohoooo!

Today's Activities

Marissa went back to the doctor this morning to get her ears checked. There is still fluid in them but it seems to be getting better. He put her on another medication and will see her in 6 weeks.
We were at the doctor's office for a while and they were both tired when we came back.

Marissa would not leave Roo alone so he decided to watch cartoons where she could not reach him.

This only lasted maybe 5 minutes, long enough to get a couple of pictures.

Play Date Finally

Ruben's buddies, Josh and Jake, came over on Friday and they had a blast. He has been asking since they left when the next play date is! :)

If Only It Really Worked

She got this for her birthday in Nov. but has just started using it. Now she vacuums all the time. If it really worked my floors would be spotless and my life a little easier!

She wore herself out and she realized that there was something in her hair. The child will not leave pony tail holders and bows in her hair. She takes them out and she brings them to me with a smirk on her face that seems to say, "nice try mom."

Yep, that's what I have!

MOMMY BRAIN
If you've left the crayons to melt in the car,
And forgotten just where the car keys are,
There's a perfectly good way to explain:
You see, you've come down with "Mommy Brain."

When you're not sure where the past 8 hours went,
Or whether the phone bill check's been sent,
If you've left the laundry drying in the rain,
It's just---you guessed it---Mommy Brain.

If you find yourself chatting for hours on end
About diaper prices with your cyberfriends,
You've just caught a particularly virulent strain
Of that affliction known as Mommy Brain.

If you left your bags at the grocery store
Or completely forgot what you went there for,
If you called the cat by your baby's name,
You can bet that Mommy Brain's to blame.

And if you know the words to "Goodnight Moon" by heart, Or you study your sleeping babe like a work of art, If you're always surprised by how time is flying,
And the thought of that first birthday starts you crying...

It's unavoidable girls, and I feel your pain
For I, too, suffer from Mommy Brain.
But I'll admit one thing---of this I'm sure
I hope they never find a cure.

A Goofy Friday

A face only a mother could love.

We went back to the doctor today and she had to get two shots. She still has a pretty bad ear infection. This was taken after we put her ear drops in. She's not very happy about having to do that twice a day.

Jose and I both have the flu and are trying to recover. It's kicking our butts right now but we are hanging in there.

Update

Marissa is a lot better. We took her Tuesday to the clinic because she continued to run a very high fever. They did a flu and strep test on her. They came back negative. The doctor thinks she probably has another UTI and that was causing her fever. I don't think that was the case because she did not have the usual symptoms of a UTI. We have been through so many of them with her that I can usually tell when she has one. I just think she had a really bad cold. Thank God she is so much better now. Last night she actually slept through the night!

She is better but Jose has the flu. I think I may be coming down with it also. I'm hoping that is not the case or my body can fight it off at least until he is better.
